Description

Only Stephen King, the dark genius behind Misery, The Shining and Pet Semetary, could have written Stephen King's "Stephen King's Sleepwalkers," a classic horror story that takes a perfect Norman Rockwell town and turns it inside out. Brian Krause and Alice Krige star in this terrifying tale of modern-day vampires who prey on virtuous young women. Madchen Amick is the sexually curious virgin who falls for the new boy in school (Brian Krause), only to learn too late that he's a life-sucking Sleepwalker. Mutating at will from golden boy to savage monster, Krause stalks Amick to feed his seductive mother. As the tension mounts (and the casualties pile up), the town's tabbies gather for a final, chilling showdown with the monsters in their midst - and we all know it's not nice to hurt people's felines... With cameo appearances by Stephen King and Clive Barker.

This movie was a favorite of mine in the 90's! Still love it. Though they could actually remake this. Now that the technology is available to keep the FX with the story without being too cheesy. But the old cheesy FX in this movie are great.

Check out the pimp wearing the letterman jacket coming down the stairs behind the girls in one of the opening school scenes. And how about the speed of that guy that's late for school in the opening shot of the school. Amazing background work!
  • A little silly and strange

The story is good but the execution doesn't really hold up. Decent FX except for the creatures' make-up which came off a little silly. The twisted relationship between the mother and son is strange, and I don't get why cat like creatures are afraid of cats, but overall, it was an okay watch.

i hadn't seen this in years, worth the purchase. It's well cast and decently acted for this type of horror film. It's kind of an odd theme, and i don't quite understand just what these creatures are supposed to be. I do question some of their cloaking powers? even for a fantasy horror film it seems a bit odd trying to make sense of them. The relationship between mother and son puts an disturbing feel to the movie early on but things spin quickly out of control and the ending seems abrupt. If feels more like a short film by the time it's through, but it's fun if you're in the mood for a strange little yarn.

It's hard to tell sometimes if what we want to rent or purchase over iTune's movie service will be worth the effort -- but take it from me, someone whose an avid "King" fan if you will, that this movie exceeds a lot of expectations and than some. First and foremost, like all of King's movies, and movies which are roughly based on his literature, you need to pay attention to what you see and hear in order to grasp the bigger picture. We don't quite know what the "sleepwalkers" are, other than they're something akin to werecats with a proclivity towards i****t and cannibalism; oh, and did I mention they hate cats? Have I said enough? Watch this movie from beginning to end, and I promise you won't be dissapointed.
