Description

From the novel by Stephen King comes this critically acclaimed adaptation from director David Cronenberg. Christopher Walken stars as a man who wakes from a five-year coma with second sight. At the mere touch of a hand, he can see into both the immediate and distant future. His psychic abilities are seen as gift at first, but they quickly merge into a mixed blessing of horror.

One of my favorite Stephen King novels turned into a film! Just great! The story is so good. Chris Walken is perfect in this! A must see!

I saw the movie, I read the book, I loved them both! Christopher Walken couldn’t have been a better choice for the lead role! Beautiful Brooke Adams is great as his love interest! Martin Sheen does so well in a role as a potential mayor with a sinister secret that he makes politics seem more frightening than ever! A chilling, powerful, faithful adaptation of a great book! Recommended!

Although it does feel like a movie for TV, still it's a very good movie, well-directed, great cast, amazing story! Sometimes fiction can turn into reality - like Greg Stillson as President of the US.

  • A Real “Killer” B Movie (one of 237!)

This review is an excerpt from my book “Killer B’s: The 237 Best Movies On Video You’ve (Probably) Never Seen,” which is available as an ebook on iBooks. If you enjoy this review, there are 236 more like it in the book (plus a whole lot more). Check it out! THE DEAD ZONE: Not only is “The Dead Zone” the best King adaptation to date, it’s Cronenberg’s best film as well, here foregoing his typical gore and disgusting imagery in favor of the subdued, emotional aspects of the story. Ever-eerie Walken, with his pale skin, haunted eyes and electroshock hairdo, is perfectly cast. The sense of isolation and anguish that he suffers are tangible experiences, further enhanced by the glacial scenery of this winter’s tale. And in the unpredictable, clever ending, elements of Johnny’s own destiny converge in an ironic, bittersweet and satisfying manner.

There’s King Of New York, and Deer Hunter, Catch Me If You Can, At Close Range… But this one really has it all.

Second only to Full Metal Jacket, this movie showcases Walken’s Uniqueness in Cinematic Experiences and his Acting skills.

Christopher Walken is one of the very finest, talented, dedicated, and incredibly unique actors to have ever come along our way.He is one of my favorites.I just love him.His performance in "The deer hunter" (my first movie I had discovered him in) was great. Then along came "The dead zone" years later.A couple of friends and I were looking for something to do,entertainment wise.We discovered a small theater close by and decided on a view of a movie intitled "The dead zone".Starring Christopher Walken.I, in particular, was quite impressed with Chris.Years later....came "Brainstorm".Chris Walken,Natalie Wood,Louise Fletcher, and several other (famous) actors, and actresses.Unfortunately, this was to be Natalie Wood's last movie. She was great.I miss her.Okay---these 3 movies are my fav of Chris Walken. It's difficult to say..........Which is his best work here?........They are all fine performances by Chris. But,after careful thought, and consideration.I must say........."The Dead Zone" is a classic. And my personal favourite of Christopher Walken's work.
