Description

Gracie Bowen is your average, ordinary 15-year-old girl, who's determined to play varsity soccer - on the boys' team! But when her school forbids her to play and even her family questions her ability, Gracie sets out on extraordinary quest to prove them all wrong. Fighting to change the school's policy and facing off against some of the toughest competitors on the soccer field, Gracie must summon all of her strength and courage, to finally show the world that a girl with a dream can do absolutely anything! This touching and intelligent movie is inspired by the real-life events that followed the untimely 1988 death of William Shue (brother of cast members, Academy Award-nominee Elisabeth Shue - "Leaving Las Vegas," "Palmetto," Andrew Shue - TV's "Melrose Place"). Also starring Dermot Mulroney ("My Best Friend's Wedding," "Copycat") and Carly Schroeder ("Firewall").

The movie looks pretty good...but I watched the trailer and now I don't even need to see the movie. I hate trailers that give basically the entire plot away.

It's a quite inspiring movie and I really loved it. The actors, particularly the mother and some of the other adult actors are okay, but not very good. However, the child actors were pretty great and I rather liked them. It's so much more than a girl fighting to have a fair chance at a sport she loves. It's about a girl trying to find her path in life. Overall, I would recommend it. However, if you are a movie snob, I wouldn't purchase it.
  • Terrible, Disappointing Movie

People keep going on about how inspirational this movie is. The general idea certainly is, but the actors and directors did not clearly express the messages they were trying to get across. I was so excited when this movie came out. Finally, a movie about a girl soccer player trying to make it to the top! As I watched it, I felt like it was less about her dedication to soccer and more about her social life. The character was always moping around, and I got really annoyed with the person who played her. If you are a girl soccer player, don't see this because it will bore you and disappoint you. Instead, watch a documentary on the Women's National Team, or a replay of the USA vs. China in the Women's World Cup Final. Those would be much more inspirational than this movie.

This is my favorite movie in the whole world. I play on an all guys team and it is harder than it looks. I cant imagine my older brother dying and trying out for the team too. It is sad, happy, and inspiring. Gracie inspires all girls to give it their all and she doesnt care what the guys say.
