Description

Golden Globe-winner Jim Carrey (“The Truman Show,” “Bruce Almighty”) re-teams with director, Joel Schumacher (“Batman Forever,” “The Phantom of the Opera”) for this dark psychological thriller, which revolves around a man who becomes haunted by the fact that he's reading a book about his own life... and that the book ends in his murder. The Number 23 is both the title of the film and the book within the film, and the number 23 is intertwined in the plot of the novel and, therefore, the man's real life. Oscar and Golden Globe-nominee Virginia Madsen (“Sideways,” “The Astronaut Farmer”) co-stars as the wife who bought him the book that causes his paranoia.

This was just a flat out bad film. Such a waste of .99 cents. Jim Carrey Can't act his way out of a wet paper bag. Really, don't waste your money.

I don't understand the bad reviews. This movie was interesting from start to finish. It was dark, suspenseful and had a twist at the end that made it all come together perfectly. Jim Carey did a great job with this serious role. I'm glad I didn't listen to the negative reviews and rented it anyway.

I rented this not long ago and really enjoyed it. JC did an awesome job playing a serious role. I'd missed this when it came out. I guess because it's not his usual forte. Worth seeing 👍⭐️⌚️

I've been wanting to see this film for a long time but never got around to really watching it. But I finally did and it was absolutely amazing, there is a great plot and a lot of twists that left me guessing threw the hole thing I recommend anyone to watch it. You will be amazed with how many 23s you will see in you're life now, but I warn you don't go crazy to with it!
  • Kind of Disappointing

To be honest i was expecting a much more climatic ending, i feel like the “math” he used to find 23 in everything was a bit of a stretch as well. I mean if you add and subtract enough i feel like you can find whatever you want, but that’s just me.
  • Ignore the Critics--The Movie is Great

Contrary to what the critics said (I generally never agree with their ratings), I was "wowed" by this movie. Not only did Jim Carrey display how much of a talented actor he was by steering away from his usual comedic personality and portraying a serious man struggling to keep sane, but the psychological aspect of this film was intense and well-done. You follow Jim Carrey's character into his nervous, terrified state as he fights his growing obsession with the number 23 and discovers the dark secrets of his past; the entire time you are trying to figure out what exactly happened and find that it is uncanny how many things he can relate to the dreaded number. It is also an interesting take on paranoia and how one can turn a seeming coincidence into something much more. I enjoy movies regarding the mind rather than mindless gore or cheap thrills, and this certainly satisfied my taste for a good psychological movie. Rent or buy; it's definitely worth it.
