Outstanding !

Cyborg is an action/ Sci FI flick from the late 1980s. It stars Van Damme who plays a man named Gibson. Gibson is a slinger. In this film a slinger is a survival expert who offers his skills for money, a slingers job is to help those in need of safe passage through the wastelands of what once was civilized america, the films setting is a dystopian future in which humanity has fallen, ravaged by violence and disease. Gibson one day helps a women in need of rescue unknowingly that she is a cyborg that has a cure for the plague and needs help getting back to her research team to save the world. Through a series of unfortunate events she ends up getting captured by a brutal gang of pirates led by a man named Fender who is the most feared man in the wasteland. Gibson has a troubled past with this man Fender and goes on the chase to redeem himself and help save the world. Cyborg, as an action film is fairly entertaining with kinetic fight sequences and kinetic cinematography that showcase Van Damme's martial arts very well, it is also one of Van Damme's very few films were his stoic performance is actually acceptable and effective. The visual effects are outdated but for its time their not bad. What makes this film ok instead of good is its storyline, it kinda rips off Mad Max, and the atmosphere is a huge downer, the storyline at times is very depressing. The cast is ok,not bad and the costume design fits their characters, but even tho the villain is a scary dude his performance is way over the top at times. Overall its not bad but could have been much better, the Sci Fi aspect isn't truly explored like it could have been, the tone is extremely dark, but it does make up for it with Lots of Van Dammage.

Not VanDamme at his best but one of his classic movies. A must have for any true fan of his.

This is my favorite movie of all time. Old movies like this one, are the best movie . Remember, old is gold.

More action and high flying kicks, nothing new, except for a fun plot...to this day I still choose this movie over any other pointless movies that lead to nowhere. By the way, if you think cyborg 2 is also great....No, don't even rent! Cyborg 2 just focuses on certain places and does not explore other areas...due to the LOW budget.
