Peter Ustinov is Hercule Poirot, the master detective, in this Agatha Christie murder mystery film. An opulent beach resort provides a scenic background to this amusing whodunit as Poirot attempts to uncover the nefarious evildoer behind the strangling of a notorious stage star. Is the killer one of the many rich and famous patrons in attendance, or is the answer even more diabolical? Before the final curtain call, Poirot must find the truth.

I love this movie and Ustinov was a very fine Poirot. My only sadness is that Murder on the Orient Express isn't on iTunes as well Death on the Nile.
  • The sun shines, the sea is blue, but everywhere there is evil under the sun.

While a movie can never quite compare with its book, I'd say this was a pretty good potrayal. It had all the suspense of a murder mystery, but with comedy in between. It's a fun little detective movie, so maybe not a buy, but deffinitely a rent :).

Not only is the mystery superb but the style and writing propel this from an ordinary Christie movie. Peter Ustinov portrays Hercule Poirot with the perfect spirit and demonstrates, unlike other actors who have portrayed Poirot, why the characters would be drawn to him. This movie is better than the book and is something to become absorbed in.

This is one of the few film adatations of an Agatha Christie novel that I am truly satisfied with. While I'm not a huge fan of Peter Ustinov, the rest of the cast is Spectacular. The story is told well, weaving a complex web of motives and alibis that leave the watcher guessing until the end. A very enjoyable movie for Agatha Christie fans.

This is not a great film....and Christie movies rarely tell the story as well as she can; however---just to see Diana Rigg and Maggie Smith doing their Cole Porter duet is a charm. The music is outstanding throughout.

David Suchet portrays Poirot much more like the character that Agatha Christie wrote.
