Description

"One ring to rule them all. One ring to find them. One ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them." -- J.R.R. Tolkien, The Lord of the Rings -- In the conclusion of J.R.R. Tolkien's epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings, as armies mass for a final battle that will decide the fate of the world -- and powerful, ancient forces of Light and Dark compete to determine the outcome -- one member of the Fellowship of the Ring is revealed as the noble heir to the throne of the Kings of Men. Yet, the sole hope for triumph over evil lies with a brave hobbit, Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood - "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind," "Everything is Illuminated"), who, accompanied only by his loyal friend Sam and the hideous, wretched Gollum, ventures deep into the very dark heart of Mordor on his seemingly impossible quest to destroy the Ring of Power. Also starring Academy Award-nominee Viggo Mortensen ("A History of Violence," "Eastern Promises"), Academy Award-nominee and Golden Globe-winner Ian McKellan ("X-Men," TV's "Rasputin"), Orlando Bloom ("Troy," "The Pirates of the Caribbean” trilogy), Liv Tyler ("The Strangers" "The Incredible Hulk") and Academy Award and Golden Globe-winner Cate Blanchett ("Elizabeth," "The Aviator"). Winner of 11 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director!

I died of boredom watching this movie. I felt like I was in detention. I was waiting for this movie to end and realized there was going to be sequels. I’m glad I didn’t waste time or money watching the sequels. I’d rather be stuck stuck in traffic instead of watching this trilogy.

Align all this with hardcopy disc items; thus more convenience of cross-reference within some multi-media collections; and some of us would indeed prefer such cover art as did represent, during purchase, what we were purchasing; does this not make sense? That said, I was and am astounded at the spectacular, glorious achievement of all three Lord of the Rings films in either Edition! The cast and acting for Gandalf and his Posse are beyond belief. Scenery; costume; music; respect for the story? All Is Radiance. The reverence for love, friendship, and all that is right . . . this, all the while, is what ultimately sails these films “westward”. Five stars, despite such issues as I mention primarily elsewhere; if anyone would so prefer, please see my further comments as via the Reviews for “Fellowship” in that film’s Theatrical Edition. Thank you!

The Lord of the Rings the Return of the King is suprising and it's the greatest achivement in modern cinema. Return of the King is fantastic i won't call it a masterpiece but besides the three hour runtime Return of the King manages to be a good conclusion to a series we know and love. The film looks pretty and the actors are excellent when they try and the visual effects again visually stunning and this conclusion is epic and it has the best storytelling that chris crosses the path to destory the one ring.

This term describes the entire trilogy. Never have I seen films epic as these with the amount of practical effects these ones had. Possibly the greatest musical scores I’ve ever heard, the best acting, the best action sequences, the best everything. THIS is cinema. Amazing. By far these three rank among the greatest films of ALL TIME.

Return of the king isn’t my favorite TLOTR movie, but it deserves five starts. It’s such a good movie. And the satisfaction of the ending to the series is more than we deserved. It worked out perfectly for another movie to happen. Like the sillmarillian. But it’s just one of the best movies of all time!
