This was a pretty solid adaptation of a well-written and suspensful Heinlein story. This is not a big budget, bloe-'em-up or slasher film, it is a suspense story of what happens when a race as smart as we are (but uniquely different) attempts to colonize us. True, the protagonist's love interest is not a major part of the story, but this is still a solid science-fiction story no less interesting (and far more plausible) than most, including a similar movie Arrival. Not bad, keeps your interest and there is nothing offensive to younger audiences (probably why the Tomatoes did not like it. I'll give it 4 stars to offset the 1 star review. 1 star ... really?? Hormone-driven teenagers with ADD should not be allowed to review movies! Do you really take "This was the BEST MOVIE EVER" reviews seriously? Then you should prpbably ignore their antithesis. : ) Highly recommended for sci-fi purists and especially persons raised on the early 20th century science-fiction where the term SCIENCE was appropriate!

The original book by Heinlein was pretty good. Excellent in places, and painful in others. The movie captures the book reasonably well. Pretty good in spots and painful in others. It's not great, but it's definitely not a 1-star affair by any means.
