It's good, but if you've read the short story by poe, you will be dissapppointed. It a very good movie with dark, gothic elements. But why doesn't itunes let me buy or rent it?

I saw this movie back in the 70's; never got over the pendulum scene. I saw it recently and I still feel the same way!

I haven't watched the whole movie, but I have seen most of it & it is one of the best movies I have ever seen!! I am a younger person, but I LOVE Edgar Allen Poe!! He writes so many dark things, but I LOVE them!! As said in another review, this must be watched in the dark without interruption. The parts I saw were so good!! DON'T READ THE PLOT SUMMARY!! I haven't, but don't. That just gives away the whole movie & it such a good movie that you will wish that you didn't. Wow... this review is really long, ENJOY!!

The plot summary gives away the entire movie except for the very end. Do not read it! If you're a fan of Vincent Price and Roger Corman's old Poe adaptions, you'll love this one. As far as I know, it really doesn't have anything to do with the actual Poe story, but there is a pit and a pendulum in there somewhere. Very freaky movie that must be watched in the dark without interruption. Vincent Price at his best!
