One of Anthony Hopkins finest performances. His ability to play low key characters is just one of the many abilities as an actor. Of course Anton Yelchin does a bang up job as well. And because he left us far too soon, you can not watch this truly great film without feeling a bit melancholy due to his all too young passing. The always wonderful David Morse was a perfect choice to play the older Bobby. David Morse is another actor who can play a low key character as well, and when you see him as older Bobby, he perfectly reflects the Anthony Hopkins character, showing the audience how much this man from his childhood impressed him as he grew into an adult. Too few films can breath like this film does! Every actor and actress really gives one of their very finest performances in this film! Truly earns all five stars!

While the movie was pretty good, it left me wanting more. I had read the book first and loved it. I do agree with a previous reviewer who stated that they would have liked the movie better if they hadn't read the book first. So, while its worth watching, it's still not a great adaptation of the book.

I first saw this as a child. In fact the actor Aton Yelchin and I are around the same age. I didn't understand the significances of moments in our childhood that would follow us into our adulthood and how we treasure those moments. There's a point where the narrator is a middle age man and he says,"When we're children a day can last forever. When we become adults years can pass in a blink of an eye." It's very touching and makes me think of my own childhood. it's a lovely and bittersweet film with a great story and excellent cast. A must see!

I am a huge King fan, and Hearts in Atlantis is one of my most favorite novels by America's greatest novelist. Haveing said this, this is one of the worst adaptations of a Stephen King novel. If i hadnn't read the book first I might have liked it more. I wish the screenplay writer and the director had tried harder to be faithful.

Now for a book to movie transfer it's alright. I would watch rent or do what ever you would like to do. This movie is fast paced and full of drama and excitement. please give this a chance and give the book a chance.

Another great Steven King novel adapted into a film, this sweet tale of a young boy and the trauma's that he faces with his mother, and the simple joy & happiness that can be gotten from a friend. All mixed in with this mystical tale of a man with a secret. Hopkins at his best, a truly good & heart warming film for rental.
