This is not at the level of something like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. The characters and acting are a bit cheesy/stereotyped, the dialogue is uninteresting, and the action seems are edited far too much to be impressive.

Fair plot about a prince who needs to be king in a time of turmoil. Average kung fu film with a fair plot. A little over drawn, but wrapped up nicely.

This is labeled in correctly. This isn't the English dub. Why can't iTunes have both the original and English dub available to download?

This was my first Korean historical/martial arts movie and I was impressed. So-yi Yoon really played a great part and in my opinion, her character made the story for me. The action was really fun. I will probably be more open to Korean movies from here on out.

Excellent movie...very well made; however, it has a sad ending.

No one seems truly evil in this epic struggle for imperial stability, as everyone's story is told and everyone's motives are explored with equal interest. This highly stylized period piece illustrates the protagonists' burden of destiny and the antagonists' burden of fate with equal emphasis. While it should not be compared with the film that founded this visual style, neither does it attempt anything which it fails to accomplish. Weaving an effortless path between reality and visual poetry, it weaves character, story and humor into the unfolding of an ancient imperium and follows the adventures of its characters as they find their place in history.
  • Sweet but Dorky

I loved the strong female character, Soha. This alone makes it a good movie to watch. We so rarely see smart, strong, courageous film characters who are women. She's great. But the film has a comedic feeling to it, somewhere under the surface, for me. The Prince behaves like a boy, and gets all duh about the seriousness of what is happening. This is annoying. Otherwise, you might like this Korean slant on martial arts and heroics.
