Description

War-torn Europe is the setting for this romantic action/adventure about the fateful entanglements of two men in love with the same woman. Lt. David Halloran (Harrison Ford), a courageous American bomber pilot, and a British nurse (Lesley-Anne Down) accidentally meet during an air raid and fall instantly in love. Committed to an assignment, David asks her to meet him two weeks later in spite of the fact that she is married. And she does. Her husband, Paul Sellinger (Christopher Plummer), is a British intelligence officer in charge of a special, dangerous mission behind enemy lines. As fate would have it, Halloran is chosen to fly Sellinger on the task. When their plane is shot down, the two must work together to complete the mission - and it is only then that Halloran discovers who Sellinger is.

This movie was amazing! The score was exceptional. This is an emotional story filled with love and war.

This will make it clear why Harrison Ford was cast as Han Solo. The love story and the action scenes stretch well beyond believability, but the cinematography and directing are quite good.
  • This isn’t a love story, it’s a story about adultery

Peter Hyams your idea of a “love” story has serious morality issues. This is a story about a women who cheats on her husband. This is a sordid tale of adultery with a weak attempt at a war story tacked on to it. I was expecting more of a war movie but instead received a soap opera with a WWII b plot. Pitiful movie. At least he did the right thing at the end and walked away from the married woman. This kind of movie is what our relative morality/no morality/culture of death society will tell you is a good movie. It is not.

Saw this a long time ago when I was more easily entertained by Hollywood. It’s still a good movie. Harrison Ford could have used a haircut for more authenticity. What can you say about Leslie Anne Downs? She plays the British aristocracy wife to the tee, and those eyes. I’d never leave her behind.

Hanover Street is an excellent movie, not only in acting and presentation but in the story. A truly romantic venture that will tug at your heart and solidify the values about how we should live.
  • But can he act?

I saw this at a time when I thought Harrison Ford was a one-note actor. He's not half-bad in this chick flick.
