Description

Director John Carpenter presents a romantic science fiction odyssey starring Jeff Bridges as an innocent alien from a distant planet who learns what it means to be a man in love. When his spacecraft is shot down over Wisconsin, Starman (Bridges) arrives at the remote cabin of a distraught young widow, Jenny Hayden (Karen Allen), and clones the form of her dead husband. The alien convinces Jenny to drive him to Arizona, explaining that if he isn't picked up by his mothership in three days, he'll die. Hot on their trail are government agents, intent on capturing the alien, dead or alive. En route, Starman demonstrates the power of universal love, while Jenny rediscovers her human feelings for passion.

I first saw this film over a decade ago. It is as great as I remembered only this time I'm seeing it in High Definition and in the widescreen format. I would say the clarity of the image is excellent. "Very Satisfied" with this purchase. Thank you iTunes.

its an AMAZING movie. It really touches the core of your heart and makes you want to do one selfless act to make someone happy. I cried like a baby at the end.

who would've known that director John Carpenter was way ahead of his time to cloning in the movie fantastic job in this! as to the awesome spectacle of special effects way too cool! even when STARMAN crashed the way his ora floated about on the water very cool. I also liked the scene where the guy from the van says you better let her go pal ,I'll give you some greetings! LOL. STARMAN once again pulls off his alien powers on him ,as to the healing of Jenny Hayden when she got shot ,call it a miracle? had to be wise enough to use enough of those spheres he brought along with him and the last one was for his baby, aww way to cute. . . don't forget to tell the baby about me.

Seriously, I could drive to the video store and browse for an hour faster than it takes to rent a movie from here. I have the supposed high-speed internet from Time Warner, which is a total crock but I can't believe how long it takes to get my $2.99 worth. I'll forget I'm interested in the movie by then. I will know better next time and just rent from On Demand or drive to the video store.

To Adammary, the movie never did have a second part to show continue where the baby grew up. Instead, there was a TV series in the 80s called Starman. It picked up where the movie left off but unfortunately, lasted only a season and was cancelled. This movie is in widescreen and I highly recommend that people buy the HD version. I bought the SD version years ago and now they it is for sale in HD, I had to buy it again. Worth every penny.

Starman is one of my favorite movies. Jeff Bridges was wonderful as Starman & was so believable! I also loved Karen Carpenter's character Jenny & thought she was great! Charles Martin Smith as Mark Shermin added an interesting role too. The Soundtrack is amazing & I have it on my ipod. Jeff & Karen even sing one song on it: "All I have to do is Dream" I love John Carpenter films! A Si-Fi adventure/love story/action film with meaning. Really awesome ending~

To Jeff Ashland and your moronic assessment that a movie trailer that was made for TV screens over 25 years ago has anything to do with the delivery of this digital download, you have no brains in your zombie head. I just downloaded the film and it's true 2.35-1 as it was shot, not fullscreen pan and scan as your wild assumption suggests. You wrote this over three years ago, so hopefully some common sense has entered your small head since then. This film was ahead of its time and so was its original soundtrack from Jack Nitzche. It's what every modern French new wave artist is trying to accomplish and it's brilliant. John Carpenter, you are a legend of this genre.

This movie is entertaining. The story line was good. The story gets better every minute. I wasn't expecting a stylish movie, but I got one.

I love this movie, excellent story and acting, but I'm still waiting for the second part to see what kind of power or abilities his son or daughter have and if any possibilities they can see him again.

Loved every minute! A very captivating story with excellent acting and cinematography. Even though it didn't have the special effects of today's films, I never lost interest, and was charmed by the Jeff Bridges character. My iPad showed it in widescreen, with excellent clarity. Plugged in two very good speakers and enjoyed the wonderful soundtrack. I recommend this movie to anyone who wants to take a break from day to day reality and just enjoy some time with a great movie.
