Description

Rock legend Elvis Presley ("Jailhouse Rock," "Viva Las Vegas") stars in this entertaining musical about a rock singer who is hired to chaperone a gangster's daughter in Fort Lauderdale. Gary Crosby ("Which Way to the Front?") and Emmy-nominee Shelley Fabares (TV's "Coach") co-star in this fun film. Great music and dance scenes.

  • Old-fashioned fun

A Chicago mob boss sends Rusty Wells, the Elvis character, to Fort Lauderdale to keep an eye on his lovely daughter (Shelley Fabares) during Spring Break. Isn’t this like sending the fox to guard the hen house? Well, yeah. Ms. Fabares is so chaste and wholesome-looking that she makes Sandra Dee seem like a sleazy, middle-aged barfly by comparison. This, of course, makes her all the more sexy, especially when she’s shaking it up on stage with Elvis as she carries a sign that says, “I’m evil”. I wish they still made movies like this!

This has got to be Elvis' best musical after Viva Las Vegas. Elvis and Shelley Fabares had good chemistry. No wonder she was his favorite co-star.

While Elvis may not have been a great actor of sorts, he manages his own and this light weight but fun filled musical comedy is a delight, and a personal fave. Elvis plays Rusty Wells the lead singer to a pop combo (consisting of Gary Crosby, Joby Baker, and Jimmy Hutchins) who goes to Ft. Lauderdale to watch out for a mobster's daughter who goes there to go on a Spring Break. Shelley Fabares plays Valerie, the mobsters daughter, and Rusty falls for her. Good acting, and a really great soundtrack, makes this a delight.
