Okay, it's not the best movie ever...but it is great. Give it a try. You can tell that everyone who worked on the movie truely cared, from the sets to the story.

My sister and I wanted to be Lissa. We even named our Barbies after them. We acted out a lot of movies in the yard. We were weird kids. The movie is old. Kinda corny. But if you grew up with it, it doesn't look as bad. Score really is fantastic! Didn't get my way in naming my boy Corwin, but should we have a girl some day, I'm fighting for Lissa.

Although the plot was strange and the fighting scenes were mediocre at best compared to today's standards, it's one of the greatest scores that James Horner has ever done!!!!! Also the acting was fabulous!!!! It's the greatest B-movie of all time!!!!

This is a rad movie for people who still use the word rad. I watched it a gazillion times as a kid in the 80's. To be honest, though, if you've never seen it, you might not appreciate the super sweet cyclopse, the wiley dude who can change into whatever he wants (much like a wondertwin), the creepy hag who lives in a giant spiderweb, etc.. It's kind of like a horribly acted Princess Bride with stoopid effects. Buy it now!
  • Utterly God-Awful! Do Not Watch!

It is astonishing that this movie received positive reviews. Non-existing acting with a plot that is properly described as utterly asinine. The costuming looked like it it was provided by several, mentally deficient, drunk janitors working at a decrepit Salvation Army store. The lack of absolutely any acting capability combined with the script writing of a nine year old from the rural part of Niger makes this movie literally exceptionally painful to watch. Buying or renting it instead of providing a meal to a homeless family is immoral.
  • Good for its time but....

When this movie first premiered it was very good. However, with time the film is in dire need of an HD restoration for both picture and sound. I think another movie retelling this story would be a good.
  • Much better than Zapped.

My wife told me we should watch Zapped instead. She said she figured Scott Baio was androgynous enough that we could both fantasize about him and no one would be gay. Boy, was she wrong.

I remembered this movie when it first came out. I was 33 then and now I'm 60. It was entertaining then and I know it is entertaining now. If you Sci-Fi then and you should like Sci-Fi now. This movie still is one of the best movies for that time. I'm Very Happy to be able to buy again but this time take with me to enjoy on my iphone.
