Description

After a spectacular crash-landing on an uncharted planet, brash astronaut Leo Davidson (Mark Wahlberg) finds himself trapped in a savage world where talking apes dominate the human race. Desperate to find a way home, Leo must evade the invincible gorilla army led by ruthless General Thade (Tim Roth) and his most trusted warrior, Attar (Michael Clarke Duncan). Now the pulse-pounding race is on to reach a sacred temple that may hold the shocking secrets of mankind's past - and the last hope for it's salvation! Based on Pierre Boulle's classic novel "Planet of the Apes," the premise for this film has become one of the most recognized and provocative concepts in the canon of science fiction literature and cinema. Visionary filmmaker Tim Burton (Batman, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow) has taken Boulle's basic idea and built upon it a uniquely envisioned journey to an incredible upside-down world.

One of my favorites that they didn make a sequel to. Shame on them for that. Because I wrote a dope script for the sequel. Oh well we will never, never know now will we!?! Well wishes Orpheus Golphin

What a embrassment of a remake this was it was like watching a long hour movie trying to win a oscar but failed so bad. Mark Wahlberg is terrible as always this is a boring remake.

It's not worth the money. You're better off buying both the original and the new series.

I really thought this was a great remake. Stuck to the original story. Is it as deep and new direction as the rest of the franchised ones? No. But it was very enjoyable for me.

Take a classic concept and turn it into an often replicated genre of failure. Good guy vs. bad guy. The apes are portrayed as evil, villainous hate mongers of humans without reason. In the original the apes were noble, dignified and thoughtful in a sense that they were preventing the self destructive humans from threatening their world. This movie is an insult to ALL Planet of the Apes films.

I think the designs were great, the storyline was pretty interesting albeit slightly different from the original and the action scenes were entertaining. The thing that dragged this down was the script and the loose moments such as the end. It feels like it had a lot of heart and strong intent put into it but it lacked in cohesiveness.
