Description

When her husband (David Duchovny) was killed, Audrey Burke (Halle Berry) didn't think she would be able to summon the strength to carry on. Jerry Sunborne (Benecio Del Toro) is a heroin addict who was one of the recently deceased's oldest friends in life, but as a result of his addiction Jerry has lost everything that ever mattered to him. When Audrey discovers that Jerry is the one man who could help her move beyond the dire cycle of grieving that she has fallen into, her offer for him to move in with the family provides the addict with just the incentive he needed to finally get his life back in order.

  • Life: When a movie gets it right

There are common threads that run through all of our lives. W hen you take a moment and truly reflect on the people in your life, those closest to you, those you have met, and people who affect the lives of the ones you love, the issues at the center of this movie will in no doubt resonate with you. I can imagine that most people have unexpectedly lost someone they love. Many people have loved someone who battles addiction in one form or another. This movie, no, these actors capture that emotion and remind you that we are all in this together. Life will hand each and everyone one of us challenges that at times will make you feel like you just may die in the place you are standing. But you also have to remember to "Take the good." Amazing acting, thank you to all the actors in this film for making a movie that means something. I'm glad I happened upon this movie.

...and a drink! You'll need 'em to watch this one. Put together some same old same Hollywood cliches with a lame story...well, you got the point. The actors, expectedly did a good job acting, but not good enough to save this drag. The chick here by my side said: "You'd be better off spending the $3.99 on a beer." So save yourself the hassle and head to the bar!

I agree with some reviews that this particular film was a bit slow moving. A bit may be an understatement. In all this movie would have been worthy of five-stars in my book if it wasn't so *tick, tick whats going to happen next* but I found that the acting was comendable. It's not Monsters Ball but it definitely deserves viewing and I am considering making a purchase on dvd.
  • This movie should have been lost in the fire.

This movie should win an Academy Award for the Absolute Worst Movie of 2008. While the acting was noteworthy, I found the plot unbelievable and overdramatic. I tried to connect with the movie by watching it several times. Unfortunately I could not relate.

This moving is amazing. Simple. Touching. Engaging. Too bad it didn't get enough advertising and marketing - besides Oprah. (I think this might have largely been due to Halle's pregnancy though). In any event, this film is definitely one of the best, if not the BEST, film of the year.

When I first saw this movie in the theatre, I was taken back. I had never seen such a gripping and telling story of someone going through the lost of a partner, love one. Then after seeing this movie again, I realized I missed so much the first time I saw the movie. This movie is simply beautiful. There is such a connection with the characters. I recommend this movie to anyone who can appreciate the process of grief, healing and new beginnings.

This movie rambles in slo-mo between Halle's toes, Benicio's shot eyes, and silly subplots. Up until half the movie, it constantly flash-backs and flash-forwards with no good reason. The end drags on and on in order to see Benicio's character relapse and re-quit but it left me just re-hashed. Save your money.
  • Anyone who give this movie more than 1 star must be working for the production company

This movie is so bad. What a waste of great talent. Halle Berry and Benicio Del Toro are wonderful actors and of course who does not love David Duchovny? He is also so amazing in Californication,  but this script is weak and predictable.... The top worst scene among many is when Halle Berry's character asks Benicio's character to pull her ears so she could sleep.... how corny. The only positive is that the movie is visually stunning.
