John Houseman is a profound and powerful presence in this film. His biggest role, probably, although he was a standout in things like "Three Days of the Condor." A very strong film.

For anyone who's ever pulled an all-nighter or had a love-hate relationship with a larger-than-life professor, or wanted to experience Harvard Law for only three bucks and a two-hour investment, this is your movie. Stellar cast, headed by Mr. Houseman, a shaggy Timothy Bottoms and the pre-Bionic Lindsay Wagner (can you say "Buhnuhnuhnuhnuh...?") This 35-year-old film holds up well, and led to a fantastic network TV series that ultimately migrated to a passable Showtime series where Hart (played by James Stephens) graduated. Good stuff.
  • A classic!

Reminds me of Love Story, The Graduate, a great 'coming of age' movie! Apple, would it be possible some day to buy this one...many of us would buy if given the chance!

I'm pretty sure that whether a film is available for rent or purchase is up to the studio that owns the film. So lay off of iTunes for providing rentals to those of us who want them.

An interesting film. It shows the ins and outs of law school in a by-gone era. What strikes me is the amount of work the characters did to learn the law. There were no short cuts, no "Googling" the answer. Houseman is simply terrific. His explanation of the Socratic method is absolutely correct and good for any teacher to see and reflect on. A very cool film.
  • for those thinking of law school.

I'm a first year law student. I've seen this movie 3.5 times. A classic. My mom attended high school with the lead actor...she says he is just like the character he plays in this movie! Check out Trials of Law School, too...its ok.
