There was no believable emotional connection between Sarah and Bryan. Lyddie was the best actress and the other kids also did a good job. Too many holes in the narrative.

This is no doubt the worst movie i have ever seen in my 32 yrs of life. And i really mean that. Poor acting. Emotionless. All they do in this movie is make puppy dog eyes and make children cry like hyenas in desperation to make you feel something. What a waste of money! I think the director of this movie believes showing an amish uniform is so amazing and interersting in and of itself, that he only had to add a wrinkled forehead here and there. Please do not waste your money. You're better off feeding it to the pigeons.

But instead it was a sacharine festival of cringe. With a layer of in-your-face Jesus frosting thrown in.

this movie was pretty sappy but the honesty kept me watching. the most compelling thing about the movie for me was the attraction of the Amish culture. The clash between modern culture and this old fashioned, more simple way of living has got to appeal to a lot of people today that are fed up with our plastic shallow consumer society and the impact that it has on kids today. I felt refreshed to see how these young kids wanted to maintain thier lifestyle despite the pressure around them to conform. How many kids today are aware of how media and commercialism control what they think say and do. I almost wanted to stand up and say, lets move to an Amish community where people are living wholesome simple lifestyles! bravo for making a movie that shows this stark contrast and for portraying it in a positive light! I guess that in the years to come that there will be growing populations of people that are fed up with our technology- designer- clothing- saturated society and seek something a little bit lesss...
  • Great potential but disappointing execution

This movie had potential for some great exploration of two different worlds colliding, but ultimately failed to push past the superficial level of dress codes and makeup. The main character's transformation from a self-centered, career-minded woman to a nuturing guardian is unconvincing and ultimately leaves the viewers feeling unsatisfied, as if the writers simply tried to take the fastest route possible to conclude the movie.

I'm scrolling down throught the comments, and I see alot of mixed reviews. Dispite that some people gave this movie 1 star (which was so shocking!) I thought that this movie was one of the best Christian movies that I've seen in a while! I thought that most of the actors were really good. Although I understand if some people think that some of the things that they said in the movie were a little bit cheesy. I cried about 3 or 4 times during this movie, and I thought that it was so touching in the end. In my opinion, I thought that this was an amazingly realistic movie that makes you want to think outside just "your" world.

this was defenitely one of the best Christian movies i have seen. very entertaining, without all the cheesy lines!!! This movie had a great message, and really lets people get a small glimpse of what the Amish are like, and shows people the importance of respecting them and their traditions, as in pretty much every other culture!
