This movie, its predecessor "The Abominable Dr. Phibes" and "Theatre of Blood," which spins a similar yarn with a Shakespearean twist, demonstrate why Vincent Price was one of the most entertaining actors of the horror genre. These films, while ghoulish and gore-filled, know when the draw the line and put a comic twist on things. It's all very over-the-top and campy. Even the victims seem to be having fun... or at least relishing the freedom to ham it up while being destroyed by biblical plagues and other methodic murders. Very entertaining. If you have kids over 10 years old, it's a great way to introduce them to the horror genre without some of the intense violence and graphic gore of modern films like the "Saw" series or even the Freddy/Jason films. Price is the undisputed king of horror films.

Simply the best of Vincent Price's lesser known works. The death scenes are stylish and extraordinarily disturbing, very much on par with Tom Savini's work in the Original Dawn of the Dead. Great for late night thrills or when you just need to get away from all the rehashed Jason knock-offs running around. Fans of SAW would definitely enjoy this movie!

Obvioiusly any movie created in the seventies isn't going to be like the ones we have today, but any movie created with vincent price is going to be a good one. His movies were MADE to be B movie material, and that makes them all the better!

I don't know why you have to diss a classic like the Abominable Dr.Phibes. There's no comparison between this movie and a stupid slasher fests that they make now-a-days. You've got to realize that they, obviously, didnt have the same amount of technology that they still have today and appreciate a cool horror movie like this.
