Description

Disney presents the smash hit comedy that families and critics everywhere went bananas over! Deep in the heart of the African jungle, a baby named George, the sole survivor of a plane crash, is raised by gorillas. George grows up to be a buff and lovable klutz (Encino Man's Brendan Fraser) who has a rain forest full of animal friends -- like Tookie, his big-beaked messenger, Ape, a talking gorilla who's smarter than your average rocket scientist, and Shep, a gray-haired peanut-loving pooch of an elephant! When poachers mess with George's pals, the King Of Swing swings into action. But before you can say, "Watch out for that tree,"George comes face-to-bark with a few vine-covered obstacles! You'll go wild for this "wonderfully wacky comedy" that People Magazine calls "impossible to resist!"

I liked this movie more as a kid, not so much today. There are scenes that will make you laugh, and others that could irritate you, those are the things I came across with George of the Jungle. Only 50% of the movie takes place with George (Brendan Fraser) in the African Jungle, the other half in the city. Brendan Fraser is not my top favorite actor unlike Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, or Mathew Broderick. There are some disturbing scenes, some that involve violence that are meant to be funny, but end up being way too annoying. There’s a scene near the beginning where they show a man falling off a bridge that has to be about 30 stories high and falls into the water and doesn’t die, WHAT!?!? That makes no since at all! If you fell off a bridge that high in real life, you’d be dead. The narrator makes a bad joke during that scene, “Don’t worry, nobody dies in the story, they just get really big boo-boos.” That joke is just as dumb as Logan Paul making a joke about a suicide victim in a Japanese suicide forest during his trip in Japan, he apologizes for his huge mistake he made. Too bad the narrator didn’t apologize for making a nobody dies in the story joke to the man who fell of that bridge, that scene was way too heavy, hardcore, and frightening for a comedy flick. I hate it when comedy movies show people falling off of high level bridges, and getting a body part lit on fire, the people making these kinds of movies add top notch specials effects to make it look very realistic and disturbing. There’s also another disturbing scene where a male lion almost kills Ursula and Lyle, but the ape man, George comes to the rescue. There are a bunch of nonsensical moments, too, some good, but mostly bad and corny. If you’re looking for a better live action Disney comedy film with more appropriate jokes for kids and adults to laugh over and over again, I suggest watching Flubber.

All three boys loved this movie, ages 12, 10, and 8 - and so did I! Very funny in a slapstick/goofy/Brendan Fraser sort of way.

It’s a cheesy family movie from the 90’s, watch it purely for the fun of a kids movie and you’ll love it
