  • Disappointed...

I love Wes Anderson movies. This one was not nearly up to the others that he has directed - especially with all the star power in the cast...Great visuals, color and framing, as expected. The plot was simply lacking and I felt disappointed after watching it. I pretty much was through with the movie midway but stuck with it to the end. Dissapointed after loving the other movies he has made...despite the star power in this one...

I think the cast and crew had too much videotape/film and marijuana to burn after the producers spent $495.99 on the set. What the movie was about, I have no idea… still trying to figure out what the point of it was. The rest of the budget must have been spent bribing Rotten Tomatoes to give it more than a 5%. Bzzzt! It was POINTLESS. Someone had to have held a gun to Tom Hanks’ head to force him to make this movie…, or had some horrible photos to blackmail him with. Painful, embarrassing to watch. We invited guests over to have dinner then watch a movie afterward. Don’t think they’re ever coming back, both of them having a grimace on their face like they’d just been given a mouthful of Novocaine injections. Minutes of our lives we’re never getting back. Save your money. Definitely a “MISS.”
  • Boring, unfunny, and pretentious.

This movie was horrible. Boring, unfunny, and pretentious is the only way to describe it. Wow, the characters deliver their dialogue with an odd cadence. ZZZzzzzzz. Wes Anderson has made a turkey or two. Add this one to the list.

I’ve seen many, many avant-garde movies—this was without purpose or meaning. 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’s more than a movie with absolutely fun premises, scenes, monologues, and performances. It’s poetry in motion. It’s a meditation on life and meaning. Wes Anderson does it again. If you haven’t seen his Netflix short “The Wonderful Story of Hunry Sugar,” I highly recommend you check it out! It helped me appreciate all of Wes Anderson’s films more.

I can’t decide what this movie even was, it did have its moments. I chuckled here and there, but in summation it was just a contrived dog pile of celebrities. Pros : The visuals set thematics and cinematography were quite spectacular.

This movie was a parody about life for all ages, and many flavors. I thought the cast all gave great performances, and I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

An average guy imagines the making of an avnt garde film by the greatest genius imagineable, pretends to be that genius, and proves himself to be ordinary. I love intelligent films bul this only pretends to be intelligent. How it was ever made is a mystery.
