This movie is not as good as the original, but it’s still a fun and positive Christmas movie. Worth the rent, not the buy.

There were a few good moments in this film that hearken back to the original. It is great that they got much of the original cast involved, and I had higher expectations then were probably possible to achieve. That said this movie for me was one to watch one time and not again.

Wow this brought back so many memories from my childhood. I’m a little younger than Ralphie, so to see him with his family right now just brought me a new joy In watching this. It was written well and I love all the tie ins with the original movie. Seeing so many of the original actors almost made me emotional. You always wonder where they are today. The acting was great, the story was fun, and my whole family got a kick out of this movie. One of our new Christmas favorites to add to our holiday movie tradition.

I wasn’t sure about watching this since the original is one of my favorites Christmas movies but I'm so glad I did. I was so afraid that the sequel would be mostly flash back clips from the original movie but this had the perfect amount. It made me laugh, smile, tear up and for me the ending was perfect πŸ₯°πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

  • A Decent Sequel to a Holiday Classic

Let's face facts, no sequel was ever going to come close to the original. But the movie has warmth and charm as it carries the original story 30 years into the future, which would have been the 1970s. Peter Billingsley's performance was excellent. He really carries the whole movie and I think he was excited to reprise his role as Ralphie. The rest of the cast is 80% original, with the exception of the parents, Ralphie's wife, and two kids. The mom is portrayed by Julie Hagerty, who was the stewardess in the comedy classic Airplane. While I don't think she was a good fit for this role, she is a familiar face and many people will recognize her. I'm grateful for the fact that the writers honored the passing of the original actor who portrayed "the old man" from the first movie and wrote his passing into the script. The one inconsistency was the fact that the narration of this movie is by Peter Billingsley himself. While the narrator from the original movie (Jean Shepherd) is now deceased, it would have made more sense to find a voice actor who sounded like the original narrator and imply that the narrator's voice is that of Ralphie as a very old man. It's a family-friendly movie with minimal cussing and I think it's as close as one will get to a decent sequel to a holiday classic.

This movie doesn’t need to be what the original is. Funny, good story, and a good Christmas movie. Just enjoy it.
