Description

A criminal mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in Spiral, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of his father, an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel "Zeke" Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.

I found it to be the most predictable one within the saw franchise. However, I did enjoy Chris Rock’s one liners through the film.

I think the new jigsaw voice is whimpy & ridiculous. Sounds like one of those guys from Queer as folk. That voice was pathetic honestly, it sounded like a 15yr old female trying badly to sound terrifying. The original voice from Saw was bone chilling, and scary, there’s literally no reason that the new one couldn’t have been at least similar in tone and level of terror. Not childish..

    1. If you’re new to the Saw movies you picked a good spot to come aboard. Welcome. If you’re a diehard fan you’ve probably already seen this movie. 2. The critiques of Chris Rock may be correct but if the sequel goes in the direction I think it will then Chris nailed it. The casting of chris in this role may be intentional in that his performance seems like he’s not right for the part and this movie is just a setup to what he is supposed to be in the sequel. I could be wrong. Either way Chris is the man and if there is any fault it would be with casting not the actor. 3. Yes, the twist is different than the conventional Saw movie but it still works because I can’t wait for the sequel. Remember different does not equal bad. The major reason I like the saw franchise is very much in this movie. 4. 4 star movie. 5 if the sequel goes in the direction where I think it will.

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this as much as I did. I’ve seen all the Saw films and thought this was a fresh take on the franchise. I think they’d worked through a lot of ideas with the previous movies, so it was great to see something fresh. Having Chris Rock in this movie was refreshing. Glad they made this choice. I hope they make more.

I don’t know what these other reviewers that gave 4 and 5 stars were watching, but this movie was terrible. I would give it 0 stars if I could. Don’t waste your money!!
