Description

From New Line Cinema comes the tense thriller Those Who Wish Me Dead, starring Oscar winner Angelina Jolie ("Girl, Interrupted," the "Maleficent" films) and written and directed by Oscar nominee Taylor Sheridan ("Hell or High Water," "Wind River"). Jolie stars as Hannah, a smokejumper still reeling from the loss of three lives she failed to save from a fire. She takes a sort of comfort in the pain she inflicts on herself, whether it's a showy stunt that knocks her on her ass or the self-imposed solitary confinement of her watchtower high above the Montana wilderness. However, when Connor arrives in her remote territory—a skittish young boy who appears bloodied and traumatized—they must set out together to cross the miles of thick forest. Braving deadly lightning storms that threaten even Hannah's well-honed survival skills, they are unaware of the real dangers they face: two relentless killers hunting Connor from one direction, and a massive fiery blaze coming straight for them, quickly consuming everything in their path. Caught dead center between two evils, can Hannah keep them alive long enough to save Connor and ultimately set herself free?

Not sure where the bad reviews are coming from. Great movie right from the start. Action packed. Well done with a wonderful cast. Glad I bought it instead of renting it.

One of the blandest movies this year. When I first heard the synopsis I was excited about a potential ‘Firewatch, the Movie’ but all the potential that the setting had is discarded. Strictly a paint-by-numbers action film that’s been done a thousand times and adds absolutely nothing new to the formula.

As in AJ as a firefighter with an “on the edge” personality. Just a horribly miscast film!! Just bad overall.
  • Jolie as a smoke jumper?

So, we are supposed to believe that Jolie, this skinny chick with pencil thin arms and legs is a smoke jumper? Someone that parachutes in, swings an ax and a shovel all day long for days at a time with no rest and…… don’t get me started! Sorry but I just couldn’t get past the ridiculous casting of Jolie and that stuck in my head the whole movie.

What a waste. I like AJ, but she is TOTALLY miscast in this movie. Skip this movie completely and read the book instead. I found the book hard to put down. Movie barely follows the book; characters have the same names, takes place in Montana, similar premise. Outside of that....

This movie is about story-telling. While there were a few things missing and the fire sequence was relatively short in relation to the whole story, the whole thing was really well done. This movie deals with trauma, and while Jolie isn’t Evelyn Salt in this movie… she doesn’t have to be. Hannah is a fire jumper and is brave in and of her own before choosing to help Connor. She isn’t a trained assassin. Helping him helps her to heal. I watched this movie twice when it first came out and just purchased. Worth the watch. Not your typical Hollywood senseless “blow ‘em up” action film.

I love any movie Angelina Jolie is in, she is a fantastic actor! This was action packed, awesome movie and I was entertained all of the way though to the end, can’t wait to read the book!

I love Angelina, unfortunately I don’t like this kind of movies were producers think that’s ok for a movie that is not about a super heroes or a person with super powers to get hit a million times by the bad guys, get hit by a lightning, falling for extremely high places, and nothing happens to that person,I mean, she is a firefighter, she is not like a highly trained spy or something, and even a heavily trained person going through all that, man, that’s way to much,is watchable but you have to have some tolerance to all that stupidity.
  • No plot

I wanted to really like this movie but there was no plot except that some government agency wanted to kill a father and his kid for something the dad did. You never find out what the father did in order to end up on a government hit list.
