I don’t understand why people are giving it one star. They must feel some type of way 🤷🏾‍♂️

Highly recommend this film for anyone who wants to better understand a pivotal time in American history. It’s not the prettiest time in American history, but this is us…and we should recognize it.

Actual rating: 4.5 stars I’m genuinely shocked at how many 1-star reviews this work of art has here. I don’t know which movie those people saw, but what I see in this film is a raw, unflinching, and majestic gut punch of a movie with Kaluuya and Stanfield giving some of the best acting and chemistry I’ve ever seen (the former very rightfully deserved that Oscar). This is what true story movies ought to be like.

Don't know why everyone is so fascinated and drooling over a movie about a far-left organization. Hard pass, better off saving your money and watch it when it becomes available in other streaming platforms.

Judas & The Black Messiah has an explosive title, but its content is like a sparkler, all style and little to no substance. When Daniel K, is on screen, it’s clear that there is no other man who could embody Fred Hampton so well. There’s a gravity to his performance that pulls you in. It’s just that the surrounding stars just don’t quite align (hardyharhar). Jesse Plemmons and Lakeith Stanfield share great chemistry on screen, but I just there was a little more fat to chew on, it all felt hollow once the credits rolled. Though the ending scene was so heartbreakingly beautiful, it made me severely angry at our justice system. Therein lies the problem, a movie like this, is so faithful that it paints a villain that is undefeated, racism has, and will always be a part of America, but the point of going to a movie is to escape that very real, in your face, monster. Not relive it with rose colored glasses.

This was a very good movie. The negative reviews I’ve read are by people that either have not seen this movie or have an agenda that they should be ashamed of. The main character of this movie was a very young man that tried to unite and uplift people of all races. His focus were set on individuals that were of lower class of EVERY RACE. He was a true revolutionary that the government had to murder due to the fact that he was uniting people of all races. HE KNEW THAT AS INDIVIDUALS WE ARE WEAK, BUT TOGETHER WE ARE STRONG. Keep your racist thoughts and feelings to yourself

As a white guy, I’m here to tell you this is worth watching. Is it ‘There Will Be Blood?’ or ‘Dr. Strangelove’? No, but it’s very well done. Yes, I too get tired of activist films, and no, I never voted for Donald Trump. Having that said, this piece does a great job of getting out of its own way, which is a major feat, considering the genre for this work. The reason I give 4 stars is because it does not transcend like a masterpiece does, but I will definitely add this to my library once the pricing is reasonable.
