For millions of children and adults, the Nickelodeon Network is synonymous with growing up. In just a few years, the channel grew from a small local channel to an international phenomenon that helped shape a generation. Led by trailblazing visionary Geraldine Laybourne and her commitment to putting kids first, a group of unconventional heroes turned an underdog channel into an $8 billion dollar juggernaut as the golden standard for children’s programming. The Orange Years chronicles the rise of Nickelodeon, with the actors, writers, and creators from all the golden age Nickelodeon shows that shaped your lives. It’s wild. It’s crazy. If you’re a fan of nickelodeon especially between the late 80s and early 2000’s. This is a must see it pretty much goes into all aspects of the network from it Game shows like legends of the hidden Temple and double dare. To its Nicktoons like Doug and Rugrats (they pretty much go up to about SpongeBob and Dora the Explorer when it comes to the Nicktoons ) along with certain blocks that they had on their net work like snick and nick jr. overall I enjoyed the documentary and the people that they had on the show and I learned so much about why it was made in a wildly hind the scenes of every show and they cover pretty much a good maybe around 30 different shows. Definitely don’t sleep on it if you have the nostalgia for the network you won’t be disappointed

As someone who grew up with Nickelodeon from the very early years (I’m 41 now), this documentary was as close to flipping through my deepest childhood memories - to the point where I discovered this quirky, fun, geek-filled life was directly related to these amazing shows. Shows like “You Can’t Do That On TV” was way ahead of its time, and the ones that followed continued this trend. I loved how things were never dumbed-down to kids, and the tone shaped this generation in ways that this documentary just nails perfectly. Prepare yourself for flashbacks that brought a smile to my face (and I’m sure many others who lived the late 80s and early 90s life). I appreciated the behind the scenes stories with the creators, the musicians and actors who you could tell really knew they were part of something special, and most of all the storytelling and how Nickelodeon’s audience was its priority and not its monetary goal. Thank you to the creators of not just all these treasured shows and animated series, but the creators of this documentary as well! This will be my new favorite little time capsule that I can visit whenever I’d like a trip back to my youth.
