Description

A freewheeling comedienne determined to save her family business invites an uptight app developer on a road trip to sell a van with a complicated history. Romance ignites on their three day trip south, but is tested as they discover each other’s secrets. When the van sale deteriorates, they must decide if their very new connection is worth more than a very old van.

    At first glance, VANILLA might look... well, vanilla. Like a typical indie road-trip-unlikely-romance-comedy. It isn't. I mean, it IS all those things, true, but it's not typical, never feels formula or predictable and feels authentic. Smartly written and sharply acted, VANILLA feels fresh, loose and real. This is an excellent indie film that shines an honest light on its layered characters and will delight more and more upon repeat viewings. I first saw it on the festival circuit and can't wait to revisit it. Rent/buy with confidence.
