Description

Adapted from Jack London’s beloved literary classic, The Call Of The Wild vividly brings to life the story of a big-hearted dog named Buck, and John Thornton (Harrison Ford), the man Buck must learn to trust. Abruptly uprooted from his pampered lifestyle in sunny California, Buck finds himself in the exotic wilds of the Alaskan Yukon. As the newest dog on a mail delivery sled team during the turbulent Gold Rush days of the 1890s, Buck has left behind a once comfortable life for one of hardship and survival. Life again changes dramatically for Buck when he meets Thornton, a loner-turned-adventurer, and it’s clear that the two are destined to experience the adventure of a lifetime. Navigating through an environment that is as unforgiving as it is spectacular, the journey profoundly transforms both man and dog. With its unique blend of intense live action and cutting-edge animation, The Call Of The Wild is a visually stunning experience featuring realistic, emotionally authentic characters.

Did you really think you were gonna fool us with a CGI dog?

If you have a dog or love dogs, you’ll love this movie. I wasn’t sure what to expect with this movie, but it turns out it’s pretty funny and has a lot of comedic parts throughout. Definitely a must see.

Five stars. This was a great movie. It was entertaining and a good one for the whole family. Harrison Ford was great. The CGI on the animals was impressive. They looked like real dogs most of the time. The only reason I knew they weren’t was because you can’t train dogs that well.

For cryin’ out loud! I REALLY want to see this movie but they have to squeeze every penny out of it! I’m going to make a note on who is doing this •••• and avoid their movies like the Black plague. I’ll be •••••• if I’m going to pay that sort of $ to watch or own it. No buey, José! Maybe I’ll just reread the spectacular book. It’s public domain. Free or for pennies in the Books Store. Let your conscience be your guide.

I think this is a really good story! It is targeted at older kids (of all ages!), who have imagination and a sense of adventure. So, yeah, the bad reviews are probably from people who don't fit in that category. :) It's also very clean and family-friendly. My family all enjoyed it a lot. We also have a big, friendly, sensitive dog who doesn't know his strength (and who LOVES the wild!), and they really nailed that dog personality on the head! It's about a perfect as you could make it. It helps to remember that the story is from the dog's (Buck's) perspective, so they had to humanize him just a bit to make him relatable. I think this is actually what bugs the critics, but you get used to it, and I think it enhances the story. I mean, it's not like he talks or even has human expressions (they actually mimicked dogs' facial expressions very well). Just a touch, to make it fit. And, of course, Harrison Ford is magnificent!

I don’t get the awful reviews. It’s a great story. At first, I was a little annoyed by the CGI, but then I started to really like the story. I highly recommend it. 🦮🐾

Nice watch. Enjoyed the distraction from the crazy sad times of 2020. Nature has a way of calming the heart and mind.
