Description

A nurse squares off against a dermatologist as they fight to discover the truth behind Morgellons, a disease whose bizarre symptoms include fibers growing out of victims’ skin. The battle heats up when the medical industry declares the patients’ symptoms to be nothing more than products of delusional minds. Now, as evidence linking Morgellons to Lyme disease mounts, the question arises, "Who is delusional, the patients who believe or the doctors who deny?"

  • Painfully Accurate

I have this disease and I feel like a lepor And while there is little hope for help, somehow it does help to see that I'm not totally alone. I pray that eyes will be opened, compassion ignited, that the medical profession at large will awaken to the realities of this hellish thing rather than discounting it out of hand. So painful on so many levels...So much loss.

As a sufferer of Morgellons for over ten years, I am beyond appreciative for this documentary. I was lucky to have been chosen to be in the documentary, and I eagerly accepted the invite as I knew this movie would help Morgellons get the exposure it deserves. This movie changes your perspective on life as we know it. It is a must see and will change the way you look at health care and chronic illness. Please download a pre-order to support this community of sufferers.
  • The best I have seen

I was able to see an early screening of Skin Deep, I have seen more documentaries than I can count both medical and others- Skin Deep is by far my favorite. It is an excellent mix of heart and science, addressing the age-old issue of assuming a new or unknown illness is psychological and hesitant to look at a physiological cause. Wrapped in a great package of a well picked musical score and beautifully shot, I highly recommend this documentary to everyone.

This film helps to give a voice to people that have been neglected and written off. Morgellons is a weird and still mostly unknown disease that causes a lot of suffering, and helping to shed light on that while advocating for empathy towards these people is a great step.

Awesome!!! We have been waiting for this for so long! Thank you to all who created and made this film. The world needs to know that Morgellon is a very real very painful condition and that we sufferes need to be heard and treated. Morgellons Disease is not a delusion. You can not photograph, video, or physically collect delusions! The very fact that people from all over the world have this and have the exact same physical evidence to support a diagnosis says volumes for the validity of the disease. To DENY that this disease is real, actually fits the DSM criteria for delusional, making the medical professionals delusional... not the parient.
  • An Emotionally Powerful and Shocking Medical Documentry

I checked out the the World Premiere in LA, and was blown away by this documentary. The twists and turns, the patient stories--all that stuff was fascinating. But the dermatologist is like no one you've ever seen in film. He can't relate to his patients, so he puts on a friendly persona that seems helpful at first. But later it totally--and dramatically--dooms any chance he has at empathizing with people. Which leads us to bigger questions about the arrogance of the medical community in the face of emerging diseases.

This film fires me up! It made me cry, and it made me laugh, too. This will bring much needed change to the people suffering this disease. The science proving zoonotic infectious etiology underlying Morgellons symptoms is already out there, as shown in the film, but sometimes after such long denial and stigmatization, science alone doesn't convince human beings to be compassionate. This tremendously brave, balanced and honest documentary garners empathy on a basic primal human level, and I feel it will be where the REAL CHANGE begins for those who suffer from this horrific denied disease.
