I'm right in the middle on this one. I found the characters endearing - a result of a very strong cast (though Platt and Houston are under-utilized). Also a terrific use of creature FX that elicit many moments of genuine emotion. But it feels thin on story and the conventional romance and obvious metaphors detract. I agree with another reviewer that this was something of a missed opportunity. Having said all of that...it still has a kind of disturbing charm and I'm glad I opted to check it out.

This movie defies traditional expectations of films in its genre. It's kind of a comedy, kind of a drama, kind of a romance, and kind of a fantasy film. But the thing that makes it so great is that, most of all, it's just a good idea brought to fruition by good, presumably practical, effects and fantastic character-building. This film is a great indie and the type of film that keeps people like me watching for gems from the indie side of filmmaking.
Very strange

This movie was weird and humorously creepy, but brilliant.

This movie was so trash. The ending was all filler and had no point to it. They just killed their things and that was it. No dialogue or anything...

If your looking for laughter, this is not the movie for you. Its really a Drama / B class horror movie rating. I love my Comedy movies to make you laugh and smile. The only pleasure I got from this movie, was when it was over.

If you’re looking for a film that’s heartwarming, hilarious & has a little bit of horror this is it. Anjelica Huston is terrific, Johnny Galecki is the try-too-hard friend everyone knows, and Anna Friel is our inner voice telling us we can’t. The three of them on screen together is a delight.
One of the worst movies ever

This is not a comedy!! It is one of the most ridiculous films I have ever seen. Terrible premises and plot. The description of this move is woefully inaccurate. It’s awful.
Wonderfully weird...

and weirdly wonderful. I see it as an allegory for Freudian psychoanalysis. Thankfully today’s methods are much kinder...
