Description

A mysterious stranger sends shockwaves through a close-knit community in this nerve-jangling slice of raw suspense. In the wake of a triple murder that leaves the residents of a remote Alaskan outpost on edge, tightly wound drifter Elwood (Christopher Abbott) checks into a motel run by Sam (Jon Bernthal), a former rodeo champion whose imposing physical presence conceals a troubled soul. Bound together by their outsider status, the two men strike up an uneasy friendship—a dangerous association that will set off a new wave of violence and unleash Sam's darkest demons. Driven by tour de force performances from Christopher Abbott and Jon Bernthal, this precision crafted thriller pulses with an air of quivering dread. With Imogen Poots and Rosemarie Dewitt.

Striking first scene will have you glued to your couch. This film is about a small Alaskan town, showing off it's awesome vistas throughout the film, and it's troubles. The main trouble is a newcomer by the name of Elwood who electrifies the screen, he captures your attention with malice and doesn't hold back. The Director amplifies it. Jon Bernthal was serviceable, but let's all be real, this was Christopher Abbott's show. Really enjoyed this film, could have written about something more interesting, but as it is Christopher

This flick is suspenseful. However, the writer forgot to close the story line... Narrative theory will typically allow the viewer to anticipate what will happen next..The suspense is noteworthy. Worth the time! I left 4 stars only because there was an unanswered question at the end, dire to the story line.

and easy to see the oblique angles of life carved by the director and writiers. Solid perfmoances with an easy book read like feel. Worthy.

Sweet Virginia is awesome - a sleek, simplistic script brought to life by great performances from Jon Bernthal and Christopher Abbott

It's a slow story but a good one. I didn't mind winding down from a long day by watching this good flick.

Great mood piece with some outstanding performances. Bernthal always good but here shows a different side of himself, as does Abbott - probably best performances either have even given in a film - really good. Great story, strong direction, kind of a Western, most definitely a noir thriller - this is a good one.

I don't understand how critics are so mean to some films and then so generous with others. This is a nothing film yet it has great reviews. Give it a pass unless you really have nothing else to do.
