Description

Simon Templar (Adam Rayner) is The Saint, a modern-day Robin Hood who recovers ill-gotten wealth and redistributes it to those in need with the help of his beautiful partner (Eliza Dushku). But the stakes are higher than ever in Simon’s latest caper, involving $2.5 billion in African aid funds, a persistent FBI agent, and an innocent girl held hostage by the man who stole the money first.

George Sanders? Roger Moore? No. Nothing suave here. Nothing intelligent either. Not even a decent accent. There’s no chance of sainthood in this movie. Stealing character names from classic Saint movies does not create a classic. Not even tongue in cheek classic. The only thing that makes this movie completely unpredictable is that you’d never predict the next thing would be so cliché. Or do it so badly. Move along. Nothing to see here.

Actually, a pretty good movie - although it did come about more like James Bond than Simon Templar (remember, Simon Templar predates Bond by at least 20 years!). I'm not so sure Charteris himself or even his estate would approve, but it beats the pants off that Val Kilmer movie. It was good to see some familiar names from the books (even though the original Patricia Holm was a blonde, but I'll let that pass), and even appearances by Ian Ogilvy and Sir Roger Moore. Now, where did I park my Hirondel...?

Adam Rayner is perfect as the Saint, and this high-quality production is a long-awaited chapter to the Simon Templar chronicles. Great plot, great action, and a wonderful cast that includes Ian Ogilvy and Roger Moore -- two actors who played the Saint on TV in the past! It's wonderful to see them all together! Well worth the wait! Please make another!

Great version of an iconic character, really enjoyed it if you know of "The Saint" or even if you don’t this is well worth watching.
