Description

How much of your own life are you willing to risk? Laura Poitras, Academy Award winning director of Citizenfour, returns with her most personal and intimate film to date. Filmed over six years, Risk is a complex and volatile character study that collides with a high stakes election year and its controversial aftermath. Cornered in a tiny building for half a decade, Julian Assange is undeterred even as the legal jeopardy he faces threatens to undermine the organization he leads and fracture the movement he inspired. Capturing this story with unprecedented access, Poitras finds herself caught between the motives and contradictions of Assange and his inner circle. In a new world order where a single keystroke can alter history, Risk is a portrait of power, betrayal, truth, and sacrifice. Executive Produced by Sam Esmail, creator of Mr. Robot.

Excellent information; wish there was more depth into each individual story.

This is a bad documentary. It's 90 minutes of people who sound like they are smelling their own farts.
  • A crazy portrait

A really interesting inside perspective on one of the world's most influential and divisive figures.

Really interesting look into the bizarre day-to-day life of Julian Assange. I loved the feeling of just observing without intruding or over-analyzing his motivations (or lack there of).

So boring I almost fell asleep. The film makes it seem like we're supposed to be impressed by Assange's lifestyle of dressing up in costumes and whispering conversations. I learned nothing new and like another reviewer mentioned, for someone with so much access to Assange there should have been much more information provided. I have nothing against Assange or WikiLeaks but the film itself can't decide whether it's interested in Assange's accomplishments or whether it wants to rain on his parade. Don't waste your money.

I was hoping this movie would be better but it was terrible! I didn't even finish watching bc it was so boring. They don't even really go into Wikileaks band the presidential campaign. All the doc does is follow him around doing mundane things
  • No narrative and horrible ending

I am left wondering what I am supposed to take away from this movie. It seems to be- Julian Assange doesn't like me and here are some things that happened with Wikileaks over the last few months that are very interesting, but we will not discuss. I struggled to find any sort of narrative or meaning in the film. Quite disappointing for a filmaker with so much access and what must have been a considerable amount of footage on an extremely timely and little explored topic.
