Not long after John Chambers and his family arrive at their new home in a small country town of Pennsylvania, John begins to experience sleep paralysis. Lying there paralyzed, trapped within his own nightmare, other-worldly beings visit John. They are entities which exist in the darkest shadows of the night and can only be seen out of the corner of one's eye. These encounters begin to haunt John, transforming to complete terror as he discovers the entities' sole purpose. . . the abduction of his seven year old son. In the end, John will uncover the town's horrific secret, a portal on his land, and make one last attempt to save his son before the shadow people permanently take him away to their world.

This is more than your typical horror flick. The characters draw you in...woods remind you of your childhood...and then scare the heck out of you. This film has classic horror elements with a modern feel. Don't watch alone.

Did the film production company pay for all these 5 star reviews? This movie was not good. It was pretty boring, and 5 days later I literally can't even remember what is was about. I think there was a tunnel in it.

Loved this movie!! I don't watch tons of horror movies, but I do like suspenseful movies with good story lines. This film had both, with amazing aerial shots and cinematography. Acting was superb!! I loved the "nod" to Freddie Kruger (A Nightmare on Elm Street). Would love to see a sequel to this film and find out more about The Hat Man. Amazing directorial debut by Drew Gabreski......no doubt more great thing to come from him!!!

"Be Afraid" is the best Psychological thriller I recently had privilege to watch in a private screening! It exceeded my expectations by far. A must see!! It draws you in from the very beginning and keeps you in suspense throughout. Well done with a spellbinding twist to it!! Hope there's a sequel!

Usually I am not a fan of the horror genre, so when my boyfriend chose this movie, I was rolling my eyes...until it started. I was reeled in by the thrilling twists and I just wanted to keep watching! I was pleasantly surprised. This is a REAL horror film, as it's not cheesy or overdone. See for yourself!
