Description

The latest film from writer-director John Carney (Academy Award®-Winner ONCE), BEGIN AGAIN is a soul-stirring comedy about what happens when lost souls meet and make beautiful music together. Gretta (Academy Award®-Nominee Keira Knightley) and her long-time boyfriend Dave (Adam Levine) are college sweethearts and songwriting partners who decamp for New York when he lands a deal with a major label. But the trappings of his new-found fame soon tempt Dave to stray, and a reeling, lovelorn Gretta is left alone. Her world takes a turn for the better when Dan (Academy Award®-Nominee Mark Ruffalo), a disgraced record-label executive, stumbles upon her performing on an East Village stage and is immediately captivated by her raw talent. From this chance encounter emerges an enchanting portrait of a mutually transformative collaboration, set to the soundtrack of a summer in New York City.

  • 80% positive reviews yields a rotten splat icon!?

Sorry... maybne I'm missing something, but why in the world is there a "rotten" splat icon next to the 80% positive rating? That's like putting a Thumbs Down icon next to a really positive review. Or putting 1 star next to the phrase "5 out of 5 stars!" If I could attach a screenshot I would. Apple doesn't seem to have a way to report an issue like this, so I'm submitting it in the form of a movie review since it seems local to this page..

So it was interesting but maybe it was just me. Didn’t find it as exciting as I though I might ... Rated R for language and drinking is the only things I noticed and it probably could have done with out the language. Unique story line. Kind of a story of finding self again.

I was pleasantly surprised at how this story drew me in from the get go and held me. I did not want it to end. There were several different story lines, great soundtrack. Highly recommend this film!
  • Movie good. Keira voice bad.

Movie was great. Kiera’s voice was absolutely painful and we had to fast forward by the time the message song to the ex happened. Enough already. Put Hailey as the singer you (Keira) as the song writer. At least the girl in coyote ugly could sing while also playing the song writer.
  • A Great Drama, Not a Comedy

The actors performed extremely well. It was a great story and message. The movie is definitely not a comedy though, I’m not sure why it’s listed as such.

Kira blew me away when I saw this movie I had no idea she could even sing. I was so in tune with her character and she portrayed it very well. I love where this movie took me. I was singing Kira's version of "Lost Stars" for months after this. I love Mark and can't turn down watching any movie he has been in.
