Stories are repetitive and not funny

I found this boring. Better to watch shows like "the green room" or listen to Marc Maron. That stuff is basically free, too.

Gets into the - very enjoyable - specific nitty gritty of the act, and the characters. Highly recommend

Dying Laughing was a raw illustration of what happens behind the comedy curtain. The diverse cast built a cogent stream of stories that truly express the rollercoaster emotions all comedians have experienced. The pain and joy we experience in search of our full happiness, dreams or potential is something everyone can relate to. The honesty in this film is undeniable.

This was a great look behind the curtain in to stand up comedy. I am trying to start a stand up career and have trouble with confidence on stage. Some of these comedians talk about how badly they bombed and talk about how they have to jokes a million times to perfect them. It was a great motivational movie for someone like me. What's great too is they don't snip comedians performing, they rely on the interview for the substance. They also give you a look at the comedy cribs and joke about them. Great movie, totally recommend.

Great documentary that gives a crash course in grounding anyways opinions and thoughts of stand up!

This movie seems designed for comedians more than their audiences. There are interesting stories about life on the road, first gigs, bombing, but very few jokes. The format is also really repetitive, just shot after shot of comedians answering questions in front of a drop screen - no footage of shows at all. I feel like this could have been so much better than it was, but ended up rather boring.

I just want to give kudos to the directors, who, in concert with the cameramen (persons), did a superb job of photographing their stars to make them look the worst they could possible make them look. I mean, if that's what they were going for, two thumbs up. But if I were any of these people, I would be cycling through the stages of grief and rocking back and forth between depression and anger (at the [expletive deleted] directors.

This beautiful documentary is a must-have for any new comedian. Doesn't matter if you're a storyteller, an observationalist, a political satirist, an alternative, or a surrealist, you'll find a lot of things in here that are useful. This is stuff the pros know. And even if you're a pro yourself, you'll probably hear a lot of friendly reminders. Most of all, these comics explain exactly why doing stand up is crazy... and how it can be one of the best things ever.

Got a sneak peak at this. A really cool series of interviews w/ comedy all stars. Totally loved this. Very new perspective on comedy.
