If you are clicking on this movie to see the reviews then let me save you the trouble: watch this movie. The actors, and cinamatogrophie, and editing, and you name it, is worth the time. If you have experience with disfunctional families then you will enjoy this show. The characters are especially exquisite in this production. You dont often see this quality unless you look for it. You wil not be disappointed. Enjoy.

One of the saddest movies I've ever seen. I actually loved the plot and the story but there's a death I just couldn't get over. A one time watcher for me. 3 stars because I love the cast and there were some funny scenes that really tickled me.
  • not a rom com

I was looking to watch a cheesy chick flick, and the commercial advertises a funny and heartwarming tale. In reality, it is dark and left me feeling sad and empty. Yes, it is quirky, and yes it is well put together, but not the light and happy feel it seems to be going for.
  • If your considering it just watch it!!!!

Yes, this has a tragic story lurking behind the fun upbeat trailer it shows. I wasn't truly prepared for something to be depressing in this at all. But it is by all means a fantastic movie! To me it was about revenge and someone finally feeling liberated and able to move on to find happiness. Of course I wanted the ending to be what we all expected but it didn't end like that. The plot twist and characters make this movie one of my favorite movies to watch. I recommend this movie to anyone!

I understand why there is such a love-hate with this movie. First off, Kate Winslet and Judy Davis are a hillarious mother-daughter duo in this film about a woman who returns to her hometown to find her herself and see if she is a horrible person as she thought she was. The townspeople are quirky and each of them has thier own little funny story. Kate is just hillarious - even her outfits are just over-the-top. She's basically wearing formal wear to a rugby game in one scene. However, it's more of a dark comedy, and it quickly goes from funny scene to serious as more truths become revealed. Bullying, secrets, and revenge are all a part of the fabric of this plot. As far as romance, Hemsworth was hunky but I found him to be too much of a gullible romantic. Their chemistry was a bit contrived. However, Winslet delivers as always, and so does Davis, and that's what makes this film...
  • I hated it

Bizarre, slow, and pathetic. Some characters are interesting, all completely nuts, most of them mean, stupid, heartless.
  • INTERESTING MOVIE BUT...

WHY IS IT THAT THE GOOD GUY ALWAYS GETS KILLED IN THESE MOVIES? I WOULD HAVE RATED IT 5 STARS IF TILLY'S BOYFRIEND HAD NOT DIED. OTHER THAN THAT IT WAS A DIFFERENT KIND OF MOVIE. ACTING WAS GOOD, THE CHARACATURES WERE ABSOLUTELY WEIRD AND INSANE , PLOT WAS GOOD, CRAZY FUNNY, LOTS OF DRAMA! MANY TWISTS AND TURNS AND BAZARR CIRCUMSTANCES. WORTH A WATCH IF YOU DON'T MIND SEEING THE HERO BOYFRIEND GET KILLED.
