Description

In the waning days of World War II, the Navy warship USS Indianapolis secretly delivered one of two atomic bombs that would eventually end the war. The Japanese attacked and sank the heavy cruiser. The USS Indianapolis’ mission was so classified it was not reported missing, and no one knew the ship had been attacked until four days later. Of the 1197 crew members, nearly 300 went down with the ship. Stranded in the shark-infested waters of the Philippine Sea, the remaining survivors of the USS Indianapolis endured hunger, thirst, heat, delirium, relentless shark attacks and the death of many shipmates. Five days later only 316 men survived and were eventually rescued.

The director should have been the first person fed to the sharks.

Poorly acted. Poorly directed. Awful special effects. And it dishonors the crew of the USS Indianapolis.
  • C- Movie: An embarrassment for Nicholas Cage

I tried to like this movie, but I kept waiting for it to get better. We quit the movie two thirds of the way through - could not watch the rest. Why? 1. Paper-thin characters. 2. Confusing plot details that did not add to the story - such as when a black and white man who had racial hatred towards each other got trapped in the same jail cell just as the boat was sinking. However they were saved when the boat split in half exactly through their jail cell and they both floated to the surface. Totally implausible. Just one of many implausible moments. 3. Very cornball and cheesy script-writing and story. Everyone is a caricature and one-dimensional. 4. Very obvious computer-generated imagery - bordering on amateur. Nicholas, I'm sorry for you that you took this movie role. The directing and producing and storywriting and computer generated graphics all failed you on this movie. You are better than this.

The plot and storyline was great, but the trailer was much better quality. This movie had a lot of potential, but the acting was not up to standard and the special effects were cheaply put together. Computer graphic fire and planes were painfully obvious. Red box it, not worth renting for more than a dollar or two. I was stoked for this movie for months...feel pretty let down.

As the granddaughter of an actual Indy survivor I am appalled by this abomination. The production companies refusal to work with the survivor's organization was a bad sign from the start. I am absolutely heartbroken that this is what hollywood decided to make to tell my Grandaddy's story. The special effects look like they were made by a high school video productions student. I'm not even going to get started on the inaccuracies in this movie. Please check out the movie USS Indianapolis: The Legacy as a factual account of what happened.

I normally love WW2 movies, but the acting, dialogue and special effects in this one are so abysmal, that I stopped watching it and flushed 10 bucks away after 30 minutes of this monstrosity.

This is a lousy remake of the 1991 film "Mission of The Shark:The Saga of the U.S.S. Indianapolis" starring Stacey Keach & Richard Thomas. The original is far superior, in acting, in film making and writing.Go watch Mission and avoid this junk featuring two pathetic actors needing a check in Cage & Sizemore.

Overall this movie was absolutely terrible! Filming, dialog, editing, and historically it is a one star at best. If you have a chance to read the book, "In Harms Way" by Doug Santon, you would see how bad this book is portrayed by this awful movie. Such an important part of history that seems to have been rewritten to suit today's PC crowd with no regard to historical facts. SAD?......
