Description

Ever since Hopper (Johnny Simmons) was a child, he has dreamed of becoming a major league pitcher. Relentlessly pushed by his abusive father (Academy Award Nominee Ethan Hawke), he’s on the verge of becoming one of the game’s most promising players when he unexpectedly breaks down on the mound. Now Hopper’s only hope lies with an unorthodox sports therapist (Academy Award Nominee Paul Giamatti) who urges him to let go of the past so he can find success on the field.

Completely unconventional directing and writing and pacing inside the Trojan horse of a Good Will Hunting/Whiplash sports movie. Hawke should have gotten best supporting actor award.

I have watched better films on a flip book. A complete waste of time I had to fast forward thru most of it to just want it to end.

Insightful candid and simply played by actors who are like most of us flawed and living with it. Great dialogue, strong performances but not because they are showy but because they feel.
  • Slow and boring

Acting was good, but the story was slow, boring, and poorly written and directed.

One of the weirdest movies I've ever seen. The scene shots were so random. There is no story here. Worst ending ever.

I usually avoid movies about abusive Fathers. Too painful. My wife picked this & it is excellent! The young man explores his world- sorry, no spoiler

Great movie, love the cast and writing. Dialogue was on point and baseball is my sport so it's good to have another film in that category. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
