Description

With a new iPhone, an apartment near The Grove, and a comfortable bank account left to her by her beloved late husband, Marnie Minervini (Academy Award® Winner Susan Sarandon, Best Actress, Dead Man Walking, 1995) has happily relocated from New Jersey to Los Angeles to be near her daughter Lori, a successful (but still single) screenwriter, and smother her with motherly love. But when the dozens of texts, unexpected visits, and conversations dominated by unsolicited advice force Lori to draw strict personal boundaries, Marnie finds ways to channel her eternal optimism and forceful generosity to change the lives of others. While making new friends, she finds a new purpose in life and launches into an unexpected romance with a motorcycle-riding ex-cop named Zipper (Academy Award® Winner J.K. Simmons, Best Supporting Actor, Whiplash, 2014).

Susan Sarandon was in the mood to act and sound like Woody Allen, and the rest of the world is forced to sit through it like a bad play your kids are in. SO so so boring and dull, with absolutely no story, and left me feeling like I wasted two hours even though it's only and hour and a half long. Terrible. Just terrible.

This movie started out slow, and I didn't think I was going to like it during the first half. But by the end of the movie, I completely related to these people. And I am very glad I watched this. I recommend.

This film is all about Susan Sarandon. She is outstanding playing the overbaring mother who lost her husband and is grieving though her own means. Every character in this film is interesting and engaging. It is fun and bitter sweet.

If you think listening to Sarandon babbling endlessly in an over blown jersey accent for two hours is entertaining then do not rent this movie. Most boring movie rented in years. Waste of time.

Sarandon's poor daughter is going on her second year of life without Dad, and Sarandon seems to be further along in the grief process but unable to truly relate to what her daughter really needs (a matter? A partner?). Anyway, Sarandon always makes it about herself, which makes her daughter drift further and further away.
