Description

Adam is your average working-class guy living in small-town America. He's an auto mechanic who spends his free time with his tight-knit band of bros, Chris, Nick and Ortu, with whom he does everything-poker, video games, shooting hoops, getting drunk and meeting women. But there is something about Adam that even his friends don't know. He is not that interested in women. When he comes out, sort of by accident but not really, his best friend Chris promises him that nothing will change but, of course, some things do. After the initial shock, the boys quickly come around to the fact that Adam is still the same dude, but when his double date with Chris ends disastrously, a drunken misunderstanding threatens to derail the group's entire dynamic. Fourth Man Out is a feel-good buddy comedy with plenty of heart that focuses on the growing pains and ultimate strengths of of friendship.

Great movie, it’s so hard to find a gay movie with a happy ending but I have found a few and this one is one of the top 10 you want be disappointed.

Evan Todd gave the best, warmest most convincing and sincere performance. Great story that avoids sharp turns but that’s life also. A tad-sugary but sweet all the same.

Loved this movie. Whilst funny, I did think it was a good take on a gay guy and how things change with his straight friends after he comes out. Sure there are gritty stories out there but this was a nice bromance.
  • A Story Told With Heart

Thoroughly enjoyed this film. It has heart. It has comedy. It's got a story that is believable and totally plausible. It's a coming of age flick told in a down to earth style. Period. I liked the indie feel. Good performances all around from a young cast.

I wasn't expecting much, but really enjoyed this film. The acting is surprisingly good and all of the characters are endearing. See it.

Nothing is terrible about this movie. Nothing's special either. It would stand out in the 1990s for its gay-bro-positive message, but absolutely nothing original or cinematically risky occurs. It's a warm, fuzzy bong-buzzed platonic rom-com for dudes. It has a few really funny moments, and its sentiment is sincere, but it just tries so hard to be sweet that it misses out on any real tension or growth among its characters. Also, although I know plenty of "gay dudes" just like the main character, this was one of the un-gayest gay movies I've ever seen. If your straight brother made this movie, you'd beam with pride. If your gay brother made this movie, you'd wonder why he held back so much. Seriously, Nickleodeon has kids' TV shows gayer than this, which leads me to believe the target audience must be liberal-minded straight people.

This is a great movie. True friends stick by each other's side.
  • They should consult some gay people...

It's fine for what it is: hunky white dudes, who (EEK!) know a gay dude who (EEK!) attempts to date. The jokes are pretty hackneyed, the only real moment of comedy being a well-timed fart joke. The attempt at a statement comes about 15 years too late. It reminds me of a slightly funnier, worse-acted Broken Heart's Club with bros. I wasn't mad having paid $5 for it, but I would defnitely have preferred a few more clever jokes for the money.
  • Not just another depressing LGBT movie

i can’t count how many LGBT movies i've seen that are just straight up super sad. Queer people deserve to have different stories, they should all be seen as dreary. Plus, the fact that the main character has a huge group of straight dude-bro friends actually makes it realistic, seeing how that's how a large majority of people have friends like that. its very sweet and i'd reccomend it to anyone
