Hamlet

Originally saw this movie in the theatre as a young man during my second year of college 90/91. Found this version mesmerizing and very enjoyable. Purchased the movie on videotape a few years later. I have been waiting years to purchase this from iTunes. No idea why this is just for rent. It is a wonderful adaptation and is recommended viewing.

I love this movie Mel Gibson was superb in it. I rented this one evening enjoyed it have it on my wish list cant wait for it to become available to buy like man without a face was a few weeks ago.

This is an great, underrated production. Mel Gibson is terrific in the greatest role ever. Always able to communicate volumes with his eyes, he shows great timing and a mastery of the language as well. Glenn Closeand Alan Bates are typically excellent, while Holm is very funny as Polonius. Carter is the perfect Ophelia as well.

Almost a remake of Olivier's Hamlet except for Mel Gibson's Hamlet who might be on drugs in this version. Well worth a viewing for a filmic interpretation of the dour Dane that differs from most all the rest.
