I loved this when I was younger and years later I still love it. I was always interested in dinosaurs and the fact that this brought them to life in a way no other movie/show has was amazing to me. There was definitely corny acting in some parts but it did not take away from the movie as a whole. The visual aspect was great and the storyline was engaging. For a 2002 mini series it did well in my humble opinion.

  • Nice Adventure-Liberal Politics and only in SD

This was a well done series, and once one gets past the liberal political correctness, anti-violence agenda behind the producer’s vision, the only thing preventing the mini-series from being totally entertaining is the fact that this was, and still is, in SD (640 x 480) format. It was not even upscaled, but remains 4:3 and low resolution. I suppose it would be tolerable on a small screen LCD player in a car, but this already somewhat grainy film will be substandard in terms of its overall appearance on any modern screen. It is nice that this is now available for another generation of viewers, and despite its stiff acting and political programming, it is a very creative vision brought to the (slightly less than BIG) screen true to the creator’s own vision. Artistically this is a little masterpiece, and it makes a great kids afternoon escape from one reality, to one a little more benign. On this basis it receives my recommendation.

Well worth watchiing and re-watching. The plot from James Gurney's books is straightforward yet engaging, as we observe the brothers' characters develop. Add Trevor Jones' melodic score and animals from Jim Henson's Creature Shop, and what's there not to like?
