Michael Palin somehow, with the magic only he is capable of spinning, sends this documentary into directions I never thought were possible. I mean, normally, docs concerning obscure, remote and desolate locations are almost tantamount to an immediate and painful failure. Yet Palin pulls the perverbial rabbit out of the hat, and each hour long segment leaves you longing for more. Sprinkled with a liberal dose of Pythonesque humor as well as a seemingly true concern and interest in whatever local populace he finds himself amongst, the true and dynamic flavors of different cultures come wonderfully to life.
