Description

For the first time, Belgian directors Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne team up with a major international star, Marion Cotillard, to create a universal story about working-class people living on the edges of society. Sandra (Cotillard) has just returned to work after recovering from a serious bout with depression. Realizing that the company can operate with one fewer employee, management tells Sandra she is to be let go. After learning that her co-workers will vote to decide her fate on Monday morning, Sandra races against time over the course of the weekend, often with the help of her husband, to convince each of her fellow employees to sacrifice their much-needed bonuses so she can keep her job. With each encounter, Sandra is brought into a different world with unexpected results in this powerful statement on community solidarity.

Monótono, repetitivo e previsível desde a largada. Por mais que eu tente achar pontos de vista diferentes para gostar do filme, não os acho. Dinheiro mal gasto!

This is one of those raw, truth-filled movies that rock your world. It's a 100% must see.

The most raw, honest portrayal of a character I have ever seen. Marion Cotillard has one of the finest acting performances in cinema to date that will forever live on. Her character's battle with depression, fighting to save the well-being of her family and saving her job are all struggles. The will to keep going is a tough one when everyone else pities you and all seems lost. There is nothing else I can say but watch this film first before any others. I can identify with Sandra, Cotillard's character, and it is comforting to see such an honest depiction of depression and difficult personal battles. Cotillard was nominated for the Oscar for a reason and should have won. But that is for you to decide. This film is seemingly so simple, yet so relateable, inmodern times of moral, economic and personal uncertainty.

Heartwrenching, superbly acted by the brilliant Cotillard (she should have won the Oscar) and just another perfect film from the Dardennes.

I've been waiting to see this film for awhile. It's was well worth it. The acting is superb. I felt for all the characters in the decision they had to make. Marion was wonderful, as usual.

Cotillard is amazing in this seemingly small but universal story. The direction is great but Cotillard is in a league of her own. I think even Julianne Moore said she thought Cotillard gave the best performance of anyone and deserved the Oscar.
