  • What’s wrong with that?

First you must understand that most of the people that write movie reviews for this forum, are under the age of 40; this movie will not appeal to an under 40 life experience. Don’t get me wrong, I believe that this is definitely a ‘renters movie’…but having said that, I also believe that there is room in this world for soft reflection on life’s disappointments, with an honest attempt to define what is important…family, in all its forms. That could be a fellow employee, or a failed family member. Many of us have grown up with these actors…and in a strange way, they cause us to reflect on ourselves. Not a great movie, but for many of us an enjoyable movie. What’s wrong with that?

Movies are meant to entertain us. This movie does just that. It's a cute story about how a person can go from the state of grief and loneliness. A person whose pain has caused them to push people away, to the realization that letting a little love in can be a remarkable thing, a healing thing. This movie is about healing, and how life can turn into something unexpected, special, and remarkable, if we are open to it.

I love Diane Keaton, but this move was unwatchable. Save your money. Easily one of the worst movies I've ever seen.
  • Huge disappointment

This movie is disappointing on so many levels. It was hard to sit though the trite dialogue, flat characters and weak plot, knowing what these wonderful actors and director can do. An otherwise weepy Diane Keaton, in the movie reduced to living in modest circumstances and working as a torch singer, livened up the show by appearing, all of a sudden, in fabulous outfits, way out of her character, but certainly befitting the eternally stylish actress. The otherwise seductive Michael Douglas did not have the same luck.

I love this movie and I have already seen it twice!! I am a huge fan of Diane Keaton and have seen all her movies. It’s so remarkable how this actress can play such wide range of emotions and being true to herself. Nothing looks like “acting”; Diane becomes the character she is playing. I hope that Diane Keaton makes more movies and I can’t wait for Ruth & Alex to be released. Great job Diane!
