Description

Twenty years after the release of Nas's groundbreaking debut album 'Illmatic,' Nas: Time Is Illmatic takes us into the heart of his creative process. Returning to his childhood home in Queensbridge, Nas shares stories of his upbringing, his influences — from the music of his jazz musician father Olu Dara to the burgeoning hip-hop scene in New York City — and the obstacles he faced before his major label signing at age 20. Featuring interviews with his 'Illmatic' producers (Large Professor, Pete Rock, Q-Tip, L.E.S., and DJ Premier) and musical peers (including Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, and Busta Rhymes), Nas: Time Is Illmatic is a thrilling account of Nas's evolution from a young street poet to a visionary MC.

Absolutely a must have for you hip hop heads that appreciate a true lyricist from the 90's. What he does, what he contributed to hip hop is unfathomable that you have no choice but to respect it. This documentary captures that. It is truly, TIMELESS! Good shhh, Nasir!

Simply amazing and inspiring story. Nas is one of my favorite artist of all time and I sat and watched this as if it was the first time being introduced to who he was. I just finished watching and could easily watch again. Glad to have this in my collection! Also phenomenal work by the director ONE9.

It took 10 years to make this movie, that's the 10k hrs of mastery rule. Respect to the creators and of course respect to Nas and everyone around him that contribute to his greatness. Loved the movie. Got me out of writers block..
