Description

When their father passes away, four grown siblings (Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, Corey Stoll), bruised and banged up by their respective adult lives, are forced to return to their childhood home and live under the same roof together for a week, along with their over-sharing mother (Jane Fonda) and an assortment of spouses, exes and might-have-beens. Confronting their history and the frayed states of their relationships among the people who know and love them best, they ultimately reconnect in hysterical and emotionally affecting ways amid the chaos, humor, heartache and redemption that only families can provide-- driving us insane even as they remind us of our truest, and often best, selves.

One of my favorite movies of all time. Literally one of Tina Fey and Jason Bateman’s best movies and I will die on the hill if it’s required to boost its rating. Very close to the source material and the cast could not be any better. If you need a heart felt comedy, this is the movie for you. Read the book and watch this beautiful movie and feel the love I do.

The entire cast gives a great performance and if you love Tina Fey or Jason Bateman you won’t be disappointed. Jane Fonda is humorous and looks amazing. A glimpse into this family‘s life may make you wish that it was your family, or cause you realize you already have a dysfunctional family and are adequately covered on that front. If you have a perfect family, good for you. This movie is funny and I loved it. Definitely one to enjoy more than once.

OMG... just a feel good movie about love & family. There were definitely some twists & turns, but I enjoyed the journey getting to know each family member as each secret was uncovered. The actors were all excellent for the rolls they played. I’ll be recommending this movie to others:)

It seems this movie got some negative reviews. I found it funny and actually pretty interesting. Was it the best movie? No. But it killed some time and I am glad I watched it. As someone who must find meaning in almost everything I do, I did find meaning in this movie. If this makes you decide to watch it I laughed and I cried. Although crying for me is fairly easy.

I cannot fathom the idea that any person (other than those severely lacking in senses of humor) could not fall madly in love with this movie. An unparalleled definition of a true “dramedy.” The humor and poignancy were weaved together exquisitely. The cast is absolutely, outrageously talented. I genuinely cannot fathom how one could possibly dislike this film.

A lot of heart, screw ups, and quirks. Basically put, the right amount of everything with great attention to casting which brought a very relatable quality to the characters.

  • Thanksgiving classic?

For whatever reason, while I watched this movie, all I could think of is my family gatherings at Thanksgiving. Just all the craziness and personality conflicts with the sub current of family love. Couple that with a recent death in the family and it fits like a glove. Very very very much worth a rental. As for a purchase, I’ll wait until the price comes down. Then I’ll buy it for sure.
