Description

Korengal picks up where Restrepo left off; the same men, the same valley, the same commanders, but a very different look at the experience of war. Korengal explains how war works, what it feels like and what it does to the young men who fight it. As one soldier cheers when he kills an enemy fighter, another looks into the camera and asks if God will ever forgive him for all of the killing he has done. As one soldier grieves the loss of his friend in combat, another explains why he misses the war now that his deployment has ended, and admits he would go back to the front line in a heartbeat. Every bit as intense and affecting as Restrepo, Korengal goes a step further in bringing the war into people's living rooms back home.

Restrepo was really good. This feels like the filmmakers try to squeeze the last drops out of that material that they hadnt yet released. Its worth seeing but dont expect the same thrill as restrepo
  • GREAT Documentary of our military heroes

Like Restrepo, it’s a GREAT documentary about our (Army) military heroes in the Korengal Valley. Two thumbs 👍👍 WAY UP. I do agree w/ some of the others’ reviews too about some of footage, but esp w/ Veterans’ Day coming up, it’s a great ($.99) rental, & tribute, to our heroes doing their jobs, NOT for (BS public) “glory” (back home), but to make sure the guys next to them, & they, can make it home. And, personally, I like the action vs inaction throughout; it gives a glimpse of why & how it’s hard (sometimes) to come back home. Imagine how “slow” life seems when you’re used to (& need) that action for sanity. Reviewers who find 5min of “slow” hard/boring should seek to begin understanding how that (minimally) parallels the difficulties experienced back home but for real (& unable to be fast-forwarded through). 👍👍

It's the best way to check the conviction of the American troops. The way this unit worked together is a point of true pride for these friends are in the midst of an impossible position; the lives of the best of the best. Especially if you are tired of war and don't support the terrible situation that the US is part of.... This movie allowed me to see my friends faces on these soldiers and see the cost of war is not the fault of these people who at the least are heroic and even after living a life of football and with the brain damage from winning RoseBowls.... The ability to survive the Hell of war with a heart of gold is a burden beyond my suppositions. I pray for the insight and visual documented which helped my vision even at the age of 54... I always look for hope that our soldiers are not twisted by the wrath of war. I have always held Doctors, Police Officers, Soldiers + others.. To a higher level of commitment then many other people. This is the best I could imagine. Major Respect

No wonder they're so screwed up when They come back...we force them to do this every day all day for an looooooooong period of time.
  • Bravery

Bravery is something we as civilian probably will never understand. If you are expecting a move like Rambo or something like that , well Get da fudge out da here. Siting here on my couch and being free, not having to wait if a bullet is gonna hit my head. That is cool, the sad part of that is that a lot of this guys sacrifice the beautiful life of them so that the rest can be totally fine. My respects for any soldier out there . And there is not heaven or hell. There is dirt and brave men creating balance.

I thought the first in this series was really great, but this felt like they just had extra footage and weren’t sure what to do with it, so they made another movie…that wasn’t as interesting or dynamic as the first. Not worth the rental.
